This is a four‑year, fully funded apprenticeship, where you will work towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing Studies while gaining hands‑on experience across all areas of a small, high‑performing Registered Social Landlord.

About the Role

You’ll rotate through departments including Housing Services, Property Services and Corporate, giving you a complete understanding of how a community‑focused housing association operates. Day‑to‑day, you will:

  • Act as a first point of contact for tenants, owners, and contractors, progressing routine enquiries to conclusion.
  • Support tenancy management activities including pre‑tenancy checks, allocations, sign‑ups, and property/welfare visits.
  • Record, monitor, and follow up maintenance issues, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate digital and paper records in line with GDPR and retention schedules.
  • Prepare routine reports, letters, and committee documentation.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring (gas safety, electrical checks, statutory requirements).
  • Contribute to policy development, service improvement projects, and organisational initiatives.
  • Represent WHA at meetings and events, including occasional evening commitments.
  • Participate as a volunteer committee member with another RSL as part of your professional development.

 

Who We're Looking for

You will be educated to degree level (SCQF 9 or above) and bring experience in administrative work, project support, or customer‑facing roles. You’ll be organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities with moderate supervision.

    We’re looking for someone who:

    • Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing.
    • Can analyse information and escalate issues appropriately.
    • Demonstrates empathy with WHA’s values and community‑based ethos.
    • Is committed to continuous improvement and personal development.
    • Has a full driving licence and access to a car for business use.

    Experience in housing, public sector, or community‑based environments is desirable but not essential.

    WHA are a member of the Scottish Housing Associations’ Pension Scheme with options of DC pension schemes for incoming employees to choose from. The rates which will be on offer from 6th April 2026 will be:

    • Scheme 1: Employee 3% / Employer 6%
    • Scheme 2: Employee 5% / Employer 10%
    • Scheme 3: Employee 8% / Employer 13%

    Scheme 3 will increase at a 1% incremental rate (for both Employer and employee) on an annual basis until it reaches 10% Employee and 15% Employer contribution rates to April 2028.
