Medical Adaptations
Is mobility, long term illness or deafness becoming an issue?
We may be able to help with adjustments to your home

We want to enable people to remain in their homes as long as possible and will carry out modifications to properties in order to make this happen.

What is a medical adaptation?

These works are part funded by the Scottish Government and allows Williamsburgh HA to carry out physical works to our properties, to enable tenants to live as independently as possible.

Medical adaptations might include:

  • Installation of banisters and handrails
  • Grabrails in the bathroom
  • Changing from a bath to an accessible shower or wet room
  • A flashing light/vibrating pillow if you are unable to hear doorbell/fire alarm
  • Automatic door openers

How do I apply?

A referral from an Occupational Therapist or GP is usually required, explaining what is needed and the urgency. This should be submitted to Williamsburgh HA.

Or you can also self-refer to the Occupational Therapy Service - To arrange an assessment of your needs, this can be done calling 0300 300 1199 or by visiting their website
