Rent Arrears

Coins

From time to time, people may experience financial problems which make it difficult for them to pay their rent. The most important thing, at such a time, is to get help and advice, as quickly as possible. The Association will adopt a sympathetic approach to help tenants cope with and overcome rent arrears.

If you know that you will be unable to pay your rent when it is due, you should contact the Association immediately, in order that an acceptable arrangement can be put in place.

We also provide a free and confidential welfare rights service. Our welfare rights officer can give you advice to ensure that you are in receipt of all the benefits to which you may be entitled.

In the majority of cases, rent arrears can be cleared by making an arrangement with us to reduce your arrears over a period of time. We will not suggest an unreasonable repayment arrangement, which you would be unable to keep. Remember rent arrears can ultimately lead to eviction, so do not ignore the problem.

Come and see us before matters get out of control.
