Moving In When you accept an offer of housing, an appointment will be made for you to meet your housing officer and complete your tenancy agreement. You will and receive advice and information regarding the responsibilities of holding a tenancy. We will explain your tenancy agreement and advise you of your rights and obligations. We will also explain the various methods of paying your rent and agree the most suitable option for you. Where appropriate, we will assist you with the completion of your housing benefit claim form and provide you with an indication of how much rent we think you will be expected to pay. If you have any particular requirements, an appointment will be made to meet our tenancy support officer, who can liaise with external agencies, to ensure that appropriate support is offered, to help you sustain your tenancy. Our welfare rights officer can assist you with advice on benefit entitlement and income maximisation. The role of your housing officer will also be explained to you. You will be advised to take meter readings in the property and to provide them to the appropriate energy suppliers. You will also be asked to make an appointment for your housing officer to visit you in your new home. This is important to ensure that you have settled in, know how your heating works and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You must remember to advise us of any changes in your household, for example, new baby born or grown up child leaving home.
